No, a MIDI keyboard is optional. Music can be played through your computer speaker. However, pairing it with a MIDI digital keyboard significantly enhances the interactive learning experience.

In interactive mode, the tool plays a note and waits for you to press the correct key on the digital keyboard. It records your practice, analyses your input, and points out errors — giving you real-time feedback.

Yes, lessons can be played at any tempo based on your comfort level. You can also pause, rewind, loop, and fast-forward through any lesson.

The tool provides real-time progressing staff notation, automatic scrolling of Krithi lyrics and notations as the lesson plays, visual key mapping on a digital keyboard, and capability to work in a teaching (interactive) mode.

Yes. Teachers can assign tailored lessons, monitor student practice remotely, and review progress through visual dashboards — even when they are not physically present.

You can choose from any of the 128 standard MIDI instrument tones. You can also add a Shruthi (drone), a Metronome for Thala guidance, and play in Dual Octaves.

RagaDhwani is a digital raga exploration and reference tool. It gives you access to information on 1,400+ Ragas spanning Carnatic, Hindustani, Western Scales, Tamil Panns, and many other classifications — and lets you play, compose, and analyse ragas on your PC or MIDI keyboard.

It covers Carnatic Ragas, Hindustani Ragas, Western Scales, Tamil Panns, Tamil Thevara Panns, Tamil Yazhs, Tamil Palais, Heptatonic, Pentatonic, Hexatonic, Moorchanakaraka, Bhashanga, Kathakali Ragas, and much more — across 20+ classification types.

RagaDhwani lets you explore over 35,000 newly generated ragas to discover fresh tonal combinations. You can use these as the basis for composing original tunes and play them back on your PC or MIDI keyboard.

Yes! If you play a tune on your MIDI keyboard, RagaDhwani can analyse your input and identify the Raga — a great tool for practice and exploration.

It supports Carnatic Notation, Staff Notation, and ABC Notation, so musicians from different backgrounds can follow along comfortably.

SangeethaDhwani and RagaDhwani are available on a subscription licence basis. You can subscribe to either product individually or both together. A subscription licence allows you to open multiple sessions on the same device, so you can keep your work going across different browser tabs or windows without interruption.

Your session stays active as long as you are using the product — it refreshes automatically with activity. If you are inactive, the session will automatically lock after 15 minutes. If you close the browser or navigate away without logging out, there will be a 5-minute wait period before you can log back in. To avoid the wait, always log out properly when you are done.

By default, your subscription is tied to a single device. If you need to use it across multiple devices, please reach out to us and this can be enabled on a case-to-case basis.

Minors cannot sign up or acquire a licence independently. However, for learning purposes, a parent, legal guardian, or another adult who is not a minor may register an account and subscribe on their behalf. What constitutes a minor is governed by applicable local or regional laws. The subscriber's IP address is collected and stored as part of the account registration.
ℹ️ The one-device rule applies equally to minor users — the licence is still limited to a single device unless a multi-device arrangement has been agreed upon.

When you create an account, the Dhwani Framework collects your name, phone number, email address, and country. This data is used to create your secure account, comply with regional tax laws, and provide localised software functionality. Your country is detected via your IP address, which is stored permanently as part of your account record.

Only essential cookies are used — strictly necessary for the website to function (e.g., maintaining your login session, form submissions, privacy preferences). They do not store any personally identifiable information and cannot be switched off as they are fundamental to the service. Clearing cookies will simply require you to log back in.

Yes. Both SangeethaDhwani and RagaDhwani support connecting a MIDI-compatible device to your computer for use with the software. You can play, practise, and interact with the lessons and raga tools directly through your keyboard.

Chromium-based browsers (such as Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge) support MIDI natively out of the box. Other browsers may require external add-ons or plugins to enable MIDI functionality. We strongly recommend checking your browser's MIDI compatibility before registering your device.

Most browsers will prompt you to grant MIDI access when the software first needs it. If the prompt does not appear or was dismissed, a manual process can be followed to enable it — step-by-step instructions for this are available within the product itself.

Yes — RagaDhwani includes an experimental feature that lets you upload a MIDI or voice file to identify the Swaras and Raga. There is also a live microphone recording option for the same purpose. Both features require you to grant the relevant permissions from your browser.

Browser permissions for devices like the microphone and MIDI can be set on a per-site basis. If you choose to grant these permissions, ensure you do so only for the official sites of RagaDhwani and SangeethaDhwani. Be mindful of which websites you grant microphone or MIDI access to — it is good practice to review your browser's site permissions regularly.
⚠️ Never grant microphone or MIDI access to sites you do not trust. You can always review and revoke permissions in your browser's settings.

SangeethaDhwani and RagaDhwani are built to run across desktops, laptops, tablets, and phones. However, given the breadth of features available, the user experience is optimised for a desktop or laptop computer. Phones or tablets with a screen smaller than 7 inches may not deliver an ideal experience for using the software effectively.
